Biography

Delays are an English indie rock band formed in Southampton. The group consisted of brothers Greg Gilbert and Aaron Gilbert, Colin Fox, and Rowly until Greg Gilbert's death in 2021. Initially known as Corky, the band changed their name to Idoru before signing to Blanco y Negro and releasing the Safety in Numbers EP in November 2001. They later adopted the name Delays and signed with Rough Trade Records, debuting with the single "Nearer Than Heaven" in April 2003. Their first album, Faded Seaside Glamour, was released in April 2004 and reached number 17 on the UK Albums Chart. The band's second album, You See Colours, was released in March 2006 and featured songs used in BBC's Match of the Day and national advertisement campaigns. In July 2008, Delays won the Writers' Choice award at The Mag Awards for their album Everything's the Rush. Their final studio album, Star Tiger Star Ariel, was released in June 2010 on Lookout Mountain Records. Greg Gilbert passed away from bowel cancer on September 30, 2021, at the age of 44.
