Biography
The Grammy-nominated indie-rock songwriter Phoebe Bridgers was born on August 17, 1994, in Pasadena, California. After releasing her earliest recordings through Ryan Adams' Pax AM label, she earned critical acclaim with Stranger in the Alps, her 2017 solo debut, as well as her boygenius project with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. She remained in the collaborative spirit for years, releasing one-off duets with Fiona Apple, Lord Huron, the 1975, and the National's Matt Beringer while recording an entire album, Better Oblivious Community Center, alongside Conor Oberst. By the time her second solo record, Punisher, appeared in 2020, she had become a commercial success in addition to a recurring critics' pick, with the album cracking the Top 10 in Scotland, New Zealand, and the UK, while peaking at Number 2 on the U.S. Alternative chart. Several solo and collaborative releases have since followed in its wake, including a cover of the Metallica classic "Nothing Else Matters" for 2021 Metallica tribute album The Metallica Blacklist, the So Much Wine EP (2022) and "My Misery Will Bury You" with US band Sloppy Jane. In 2023, Phoebe Bridgers reunited with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus as boygenius for the trio's first full-length album, the record, followed later that year by the four-track EP the rest. The group toured extensively behind the album, while Phoebe Bridgers also opened selected dates on Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour. Boygenius' success culminated at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where the record won Best Alternative Music Album and "Not Strong Enough" earned Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance. Phoebe Bridgers collected a fourth Grammy that night for her appearance on SZA's "Ghost in the Machine", which won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Boygenius subsequently announced a hiatus, and Phoebe Bridgers largely stepped away from solo activity before returning to the stage in May 2026 for her first solo concerts in three years, using a series of small pop-up shows to introduce new material. The performances eventually culminated in a sold-out Madison Square Garden show, ahead of the announcement of her third solo album, Lost Weekend. Its lead single, "Lost Boys", arrived in June 2026 as her first original solo release since "Sidelines" in 2022, with an acoustic version following in July. Released through Dead Oceans on August 14, 2026, Lost Weekend marked Phoebe Bridgers' first solo album in six years and was accompanied by a video for "I Can't Wait."
