Biography

Deborah Anne Boone, known professionally as Debby Boone, was born on September 22, 1956, in Hackensack, New Jersey. She is an American singer and actress, daughter of Pat Boone and Shirley Lee Foley Boone. At age 14, she began touring with her family, which included three sisters. In 1977, Debby Boone launched her solo career with the single "You Light Up My Life", the track from her debut album of the same name. The track became a massive hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for ten consecutive weeks and earning her a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1978. The album was also successful, reaching number 6 on both the Pop and Country charts. Debby Boone's subsequent singles, such as "California" (1978) and "God Knows"/"Baby I'm Yours" (1978), had modest success but did not reach the same heights as her breakthrough hit. She shifted her focus to country music, releasing albums like Love Has No Reason (1980), which featured the Number 1 country hit "Are You On The Road To Lovin' Me Again". Debby Boone also ventured into theater, appearing in productions such as Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Camelot. In 2005, she released a tribute album to her mother-in-law Rosemary Clooney titled Reflections Of Rosemary, which included performances at venues like the Feinstein's at Loews Regency in New York.
