Death of Samantha was an American post-punk band from Cleveland, Ohio. Formed in 1983 by vocalist/guitarist John Petkovic, bassist David James, and drummer Steven "Steve-O" Eierdam, the trio debuted at a Ground Round family restaurant in Parma Heights. The following year, Doug Gillard joined as lead guitarist. The band released two critically acclaimed singles on local Ohio label St. Valentine Records: "Amphetamine" (1985) and "Porn in the USA" (1986). These releases secured them a record contract with Homestead Records, leading to their debut album Strungout on Jargon (1986), which received widespread critical acclaim. The band released two more albums: Where the Women Wear the Glory and the Men Wear the Pants (1988) and Come All Ye Faithless (1989). Death of Samantha performed with notable contemporaries such as Sonic Youth, Nirvana, and the Replacements. The band played their farewell show on December 15, 1990.
