The Dead Boys is an American punk rock ensemble from Cleveland established in 1975. The group consists of the musicians Cheetah Chrome, Mark Thorn, Scott Churilla, Monk Burris, and Sam Hariss. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by punk rock and for being one of the rowdiest groups of the early punk era. The ensemble was founded by the musicians Stiv Bators, Jimmy Zero, Jeff Magnum, Chrome, and Johnny Blitz. They achieved professional recognition for moving to New York City in July 1976 and performing at the rock club CBGB. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Young, Loud and Snotty (1977) released on the label Sire Records. The recording featured the song âSonic Reducerâ (1977), which is recognized as a classic anthem of the punk genre. The Dead Boys achieved professional recognition for the studio recording We Have Come for Your Children (1978). The ensemble became inactive in 1979 but resumed activity for several reunions in the 1980s, 2004, and 2005. They achieved professional recognition for returning in 2017 for a 40th-anniversary tour and the studio recording Still Snotty: Young, Loud and Snotty at 40 (2017).
