Biography

Dazzling Killmen, an American math rock band from St. Louis, Missouri, was formed in 1990 by jazz students Blake Fleming on drums, Darin Gray on bass, and Nick Sakes on vocals and guitar. The group initially released several singles including "Numb" (1990) and "Ghost Limb/Torture" (1991). Their debut album Dig Out the Switch was released in 1992 through Intellectual Convulsion Records, which caught the attention of Skin Graft Records. The band's second full-length release, Face of Collapse, followed in 1994 on Skin Graft Records. Dazzling Killmen disbanded in fall 1995 prior to a planned tour with Jim O'Rourke. Post-breakup, their music has been recognized for influencing genres such as math rock and post-metal, with Face of Collapse cited as one of the Best Post-Metal albums ever released by Robin Jahdi. In 2013, Spin magazine named Blake Fleming among the 100 best drummers in alternative music. The band reunited for a series of shows in 2025.
