DaYeene, a Swedish soul/house music duo formed by sisters Jeanetteâ¯Söderholm and Dianeâ¯Söderholm, emerged in the late 1980s. The sisters were discovered by SweMix coâfounder StoneBridge after he remixed Frankieâ¯LaMotte in 1989, leading to a contract with the early Swedish urbanâmusic label. Their debut single, "We're On The Case", released in 1989, blended hipâhop elements with soulful vocals and introduced the duo to club audiences. In 1990 they issued the album United Soul Power, featuring tracks such as "Big Bad World" and "Drive My Car", followed by the 1991 EP Alright and the single "Alright", which became a club hit. 1992 saw the release of Primetime, while the 1997 single "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" and the 1998 single "And It Hurts" expanded their catalogue. DaYeene collaborated frequently with contemporaries in the Nordik beat scene, guestâappearing on releases by Papaâ¯Dee, Kayo, Rob'n'Raz, and Titiyo, and contributed backing vocals to Cheiron Studios projects. Their track "Revelation" entered the UK Singles Chart in July 1999, peaking at numberâ¯63, marking their most notable chart success. The duo remained active through the late 1990s, after which they ceased public releases, leaving a concise yet influential legacy in Swedish electronic and soulâhouse music.
