Biography

Dawn of Ashes is an American industrial metal band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2000 by Kristof Bathory, the group initially focused on horror-based dark electronic music, known as Terror EBM. Their breakthrough came with the release of Sacred Fever in 2005, which led to a signing with German label NoiTekk and subsequent releases including In the Acts of Violence (2006) and The Crypt Injection (2007). In late 2008, Dawn of Ashes shifted their musical direction towards melodic black metal, releasing Genocide Chapters in 2010 under Metal Blade Records. Notable collaborations included remixes for bands like Suicide Commando and Grendel, as well as guest vocals from Nero Bellum and Gary Zon on the 2013 album Anathema. The band's final tour, "Enter the Vortex," concluded in December 2013, marking their disbandment. Dawn of Ashes resumed activities in 2016 after signing with Metropolis Records and released Theophany that same year. Brandon "Rage" Richter joined the band in 2016, followed by the release of Daemonolatry Gnosis in 2017. Later releases included Reopening the Scars (2024), Infecting the Scars (2025), and Anatomy of Suffering (2026).
