Biography

David Wax Museum, a folk and roots rock band blending traditional Mexican son music with Americana, was formed by core members David Wax and Suz Slezak. Their unique sound, termed "Mexo-Americana," gained traction after their debut album I Turned Off Thinking About (2008). The band's breakthrough came in 2010 when they won a contest for a spot at the Newport Folk Festival. In 2011, they released the critically acclaimed album Everything is Saved, which included "Born with a Broken Heart", named Song of the Year in the Boston Music Awards. Subsequent releases included Knock Knock Get Up (2012), Guesthouse (2015), and You Must Change Your Life (2023).
