David Crowder Band was an American Christian rock and modern worship ensemble from Waco established in 1996. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by Christian rock, folk rock, and electronic rock and for incorporating unconventional instruments including a robot drummer and a modified Speak & Spell. The ensemble was founded by the musician David Crowder. Crowder achieved professional recognition for a career that began after he co-founded the University Baptist Church in 1995 while a student at Baylor University. Their recording career began with the independent studio recording Pour Over Me (1996) and the studio recording All I Can Say (1998). David Crowder Band achieved professional recognition for signing with the label Sparrow Records and releasing the debut studio recording Can You Hear Us? (2002). Their discography included the studio recording A Collision (2005) which reached number 39 on the Billboard 200 and featured the song âHere Is Our Kingâ (2005) receiving a GMA Dove Award for rock/contemporary song of the year. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Remedy (2007) reaching number 22 on the Billboard 200 and the studio recording Church Music (2009) which reached number 11. David Crowder Band achieved professional recognition for the final studio recording Give Us Rest (2012) debuting at Number 1 on the Billboard Christian chart and reaching number 2 on the Billboard 200. The group became inactive in 2012 following a final performance at the Passion 2012 Conference.
