David Cronenberg's Wife, a London-based band formed in 2004, took their name from Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg. The group released their first single "I Couldn't Get Off" in 2007, followed by their debut album Bluebeard's Rooms in 2008. In 2009, they released their second album Hypnagogues, which showcased a more personal lyrical approach and a softer sound. Their third album Don't Wait to Be Hunted to Hide in 2012 featured controversial songs that sparked significant debate, and the band supported The Fall at the Islington Assembly Hall later that year. In 2018, they released the EP The Octoberman Sequence, followed by their fourth album The Ship (Necrologies) in March 2020. The album's single "Hannity Comes Home", was described as one of the Best Singles of the Year by The Indiependent.
