Biography

Darryl Purpose is an American singer-songwriter recognized for his narrative lyrics and fingerstyle guitar. Before beginning his musical career, he was a professional card player and was inducted into the Blackjack Hall of Fame in 2010. He achieved professional recognition as a national touring musician in 1996 with the release of his debut studio album, Right Side of Zero (1996). His recording career includes the studio albums Same River Twice (1997), Travelers' Code (1999), and A Crooked Line (2001). He has collaborated with artists such as Robert Morgan Fisher and Paul Zollo, co-writing tracks including “The Ghost of Crazy Horse” (2001) and “Baltimore” (2001). After a seven-year period of inactivity, Purpose resumed activity in 2012 with the studio recording Next Time Around (2012). The album reached Number 1 on the Roots Music Report folk chart for national radio airplay.
