Adelina Doris Monteiro, known as Doris Monteiro, was born in 1934, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At age 15, she won a singing contest on Radio Nacional de Rio de Janeiro with âBoléroâ by Lucienne Delyle, launching her career. In the 1950s, Monteiro joined Rádio Tupi and released her first album in 1951, featuring âSe Você se Importasse,â which topped the charts for five months. She ventured into cinema in the 1950s, appearing in films like Agulha no Palheiro. Her 1961 self-titled album included hits âPalhaçadaâ and âFiz o Bobãoâ. Monteiro continued releasing albums throughout the 2000s. She passed away in 2023, in Rio de Janeiro.
