Biography
Frankie Bones, born Frank Mitchell in 1966 in Brooklyn, Newâ¯York, emerged as a pioneering DJ and producer in the American electronic music scene. After inheriting his fatherâs vinyl collection at age ten and beginning to spin records in 1981, he released the early Bonesbreaks series in 1988 and 1989, followed by the single "Just As Long As I Got You" in 1989, establishing his presence in the burgeoning techno community. In the early 1990s, Frankie Bones organized the Storm Rave series, drawing thousands to outdoor venues such as Williamsburg and Coney Island, and collaborated with his brother Adam âXâ Mitchell and Heather Heart, coâfounding the Sonic Groove label and store. His tracks "The Future is Ours" (1990) and "My House is Your House (And Your House is Mine)" (1992) were featured in Berlinâs Love Parade, while performances at the Love Parade (1991â1992) and Electric Daisy Carnival reinforced his international profile. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Frankie Bones released numerous EPs and compilations, including Bonesbreaks Volume 7 (1993) and the Ghetto Technics series, and maintained a touring schedule across Europe and North America. His influence on the PLUR ethos and the mainstream acceptance of rave culture are documented in festival lineâups and industry retrospectives, marking him as a key figure in the evolution of American techno.
