Biography

Revealed in 1975 with the album À Court Terme and the hit "J'ai quitté mon île", singer-songwriter Daniel Lavoie hasn't left the stage since that first success. Born in Manitoba, Canada, in 1949, he is equally at home in both English and French, sprinkling his recordings with gentle folk, pop and rock melodies. Winner of several Prix Félix and other Victoires de la musique awards, he seduced a large transatlantic audience with "Ils s'aiment", his big hit in 1984, and the musical Notre-Dame de Paris in which he played the character of Frollo in 1998. Composer for other artists such as Lara Fabian and Roch Voisine, he paid tribute to his master Félix Leclerc in 2005, sang his hits again in 2012(J'écoute la Radio) and published the medieval musical tale La Licorne Captive in 2014.
