Daniel Alexander Calderón PulgarÃn, born on August 6, 1984 in MedellÃn and son of famed producer Iván Calderón, grew up immersed in vallenato music, recording his first song, âObsesión,â at age four. He officially joined his fatherâs ensemble, later renamed Daniel Calderón y Los Gigantes del Vallenato, launching his solo career with the 2003 album Los Gigantes son los Gigantes, followed by Aire Fresco (2005), Asà Somos (2007)âfeaturing hits like âQuién Eres Tú,â âAventura,â and âDueleââand VÃa Libre (2009) with acclaimed songs such as âQué Le Diré al Corazón.â His 2011 release Alto Voltaje, which included the popular single âLa Señal,â helped earn him the title of Artist Vallenato of the Year at the Nuestra Tierra Awards. In 2015, De Sur a Norte spawned the hit âNo y No,â and his later worksâPeligroso (2017), Más Gigantes Que Nunca (2022), and the dual Dos Ãpocas editions (2023)âdemonstrated his evolving artistry. In 2024, he celebrated two decades in music with the compilation 20 Años de Carrera Musical, and in 2025 released the reflective album Conexión, produced in collaboration with notable accordionist Alvin Anaya âMafiaâ and featuring the emotionally resonant single âDos Horas.â
