Danny Wayland Seals, known professionally as Dan Seals, was born on February 8, 1948, in McCamey, Texas. He began his music career as one half of the soft rock duo England Dan & John Ford Coley with classmate and friend John Ford Coley. The duo charted nine singles between 1976 and 1980, including their biggest hit "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight", which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976. After England Dan & John Ford Coley disbanded in 1980, Seals embarked on a solo career, initially signing with Atlantic Records and later shifting to Capitol Records in 1983. His first album as a solo artist was Stones, released in 1980. However, it was his subsequent albums that gained significant traction. Rebel Heart (1983) marked the beginning of his successful run on the country charts with hits like "God Must Be a Cowboy". Seals achieved notable success with his 1984 album San Antone, which included the Top 5 hit "My Baby's Got Good Timing". His 1985 album Won't Be Blue Anymore reached Number 1 on the country albums chart and earned RIAA gold certification, featuring the Number 1 hits "Meet Me in Montana" (a duet with Marie Osmond) and "Bop". Seals released 16 studio albums and charted more than 20 singles on the country charts, with eleven reaching the top of the charts. He passed away on March 25, 2009.
