Biography
Marie Osmond - born Olive Marie Osmond on October 13, 1959, in Ogden, Utah â is the only sister of iconic pop group the Osmonds. The eighth of nine children, she began singing at the age of 4 and, alongside her brothers, performed on the popular television series The Andy Williams Show in the late 1960s. Released at the height of Osmondmania, her 1973 debut single, âPaper Rosesâ, was an international hit and was followed by the album of the same name. A year later, her second album, In My Little Corner of the World, was far less successful due to the fading popularity of the Osmond brand. Her next two albums - Who's Sorry Now (1975) and This Is the Way That I Feel (1977) â suffered the same fate. However, she joined forces with her brother Donny in 1975 for the very successful TV variety series Donny & Marie, which lasted until 1979. The duo also recorded several albums together, scoring several hits in the process including âIâm Leaving It Up to Youâ, âMorning Side of the Mountainâ, and âDeep Purpleâ. During the 1980s, she found success on the country music charts, with a series of albums including There's No Stopping Your Heart (1985), I Only Wanted You (1986) , All in Love (1988) and Steppinâ Stone (1989). She spent the 1990s with a variety of projects including TV shows, live performances, advertising campaigns, and concentrating on her family. She returned to recording with 2007âs Magic of Christmas album, which led to the hit country music album I Can Do This (2010). After spending several years performing with her brother Donny in Las Vegas, Nevada, she returned to her solo career with the albums Music is Medicine (2016) and Unexpected (2021).
