Biography

Dallas Crane, an Australian pop‑rock group formed in Melbourne in 1996, began with members Chris Brodie, Dave Larkin, Pete Satchell and Shan Vanderwert. Their first self‑released album Lent (1998) was produced locally and introduced the band to the Melbourne pub circuit. The breakthrough came with the 2000 release of Twenty Four Seven, recorded at Hothouse Studios and produced by Craig Harnath, which spawned the single "Sit on My Knee" that entered high rotation on Triple J and peaked at Number 14 on the ARIA Singles Chart in July 2005. In July 2004 the self‑titled album Dallas Crane was issued by Albert Music and entered the ARIA Albums Chart top 50; the lead single "Dirty Hearts" also entered the top 50. The 2006 album Factory Girls reached Number 30 on the ARIA Albums Chart, the highest placement for the group, and its single "Curiosity" received a four‑star rating from Rolling Stone Australia. After a brief hiatus, the band returned in 2012 and released the fifth studio album Scoundrels in November 2015, produced by Wayne Connolly. Dallas Crane continued touring, including a 2022 appearance supporting KISS at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.
