Biography

Decibel, an Italian punk rock and new wave band formed in 1977, emerged from the fusion of several local bands. Enrico Ruggeri and Fulvio Muzio initially played in Josafat and Tip Gods respectively, before forming Champagne Molotov with Silvio Capeccia in 1974. This group later merged with Trifoglio to create Decibel. Their debut album Punk was released in 1978 but faced commercial failure. The band gained national attention with "Contessa" (1980) at the Sanremo Festival in 1980. Ruggeri left the band after internal conflicts, leading to a shift in musical direction. The band released Novecento in 1982 and experimented with electronic sounds, culminating in the instrumental album Desaparecida in 1998. After a long hiatus, Decibel reunited in 2016 and released Noblesse Oblige (2017). They performed at the Sanremo Festival in 2018 with "Lettera dal Duca", a tribute to David Bowie.
