The founding lineup consisted of Bernie Muller-Thym, Greg "Storm" DiCostanzo, Paul Sabourin, and Richard Hsu, with bass singer Jay Jones performing with the group until 1994. They achieved professional recognition after winning the Mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweepstakes in 1997. They released the debut extended play Somebody Else's Greatest Hits (1995) and the debut studio album Bendy's Law (1997). Their recording career includes the studio albums The Life and Times of Mike Fanning (1999) and Brontosaurus (2002), the latter featuring their most popular track, “Enormous Penis”. The group performed specials for Comedy Central and PBS and served as the house band for the radio station WBIG-FM. Following their disbandment in 2004, Sabourin and DiCostanzo established the musical duo Paul and Storm. The ensemble recorded the track “The Ballad of The Sneak” (2003) for the website Homestar Runner. Their composition “Another Irish Drinking Song” (2001) was featured with adapted lyrics in the film Despicable Me 2 (2013).
