Biography

Cuddly Toys, a new wave band from London, formed in 1976 as Raped. The original line-up included Sean Purcell on vocals, Faebhean Kwest on guitar, Tony Baggett on bass, and Paddy Phield on drums. In January 1979, they changed their name to Cuddly Toys and released their debut single "Madman", which reached number 19 in the UK Indie Chart. The band's first album, Guillotine Theatre, was released in 1980 in the UK and topped the indie album chart while reaching number 8 on the main billboard charts. Notable singles include "Astral Joe" and "Someone's Crying". They released their second album Trials and Crosses in 1982. The band continued with various personnel changes until 1987. Sean Purcell passed away in Ireland in 1996 due to a brain tumor.
