Cubismo is a Croatian music band from Zagreb that formed in 1995. The ensemble consists of 11 members playing a fusion of salsa and Latin jazz. The group initially formed with eight prominent musicians from various Croatian bands and featured the Venezuelan vocalist Ricardo Luque. Their name originated from the Dizzy Gillespie piece âCu-bi Cu-bopâ, which represents an early mix of jazz and Afro-Cuban music. The ensembleâs sound is characterized by a multi-member rhythm section and a diverse array of instruments. Their debut studio album, Cubismo, was released (1997), followed by the live recording Viva la Habana (1998). Their discography includes the studio albums Motivo Cubano (2000) and Junglesalsa (2002), the latter featuring the single âComparsaâ (2002). Signed with Aquarius Records, they also released the compilation Amigos (2004) and the studio recording Autobus Calypso (2007). In 2020, they released the studio album Tumbao. Their live work includes the 2005 video release A Night with Cubismo â Live in Lisinski.
