Cristina Sánchez Ruiz, known professionally as Cristie, was born on May 31, 1978, in Fuengirola, Spain. She began her music career at age 16 with a local band and later joined Cheli 3, where she experimented with flamenco, gospel, and funk. In 2002, Cristie gained national recognition as a contestant on the second series of Operación Triunfo. Her single "No quiero sufrir" received critical acclaim but fell short of the sales target for a record deal. She signed with O'Clock Music and released her debut album Puro teatro in 2003, which blended flamenco with R&B, pop, and funky elements. In 2008, she released her second album Con la suerte en los tacones, featuring a mix of soul, salsa, funky, ballad, and flamenco. Cristie took part in the 2020 edition of La Voz Spain and appeared on the music TV show Tierra de talento in 2023.
