Biography

Court Yard Hounds, an American country music and folk duo, was formed in 2009 by sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer. The duo emerged as a side project while their primary band, the Dixie Chicks, were on hiatus. Court Yard Hounds released their self-titled debut album in 2010, through Columbia Records, which debuted at number 7 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold approximately 825,000 copies in the United States. The album featured Emily Strayer as lead vocalist for the first time. The band also notably toured with the Eagles and Keith Urban in 2010. Their second studio album, Amelita, was released in 2013, with "Sunshine" as its lead single.
