Cornelio Reyna Cisneros, born on September 15, 1940 in Notillas Coahuila, was a Mexican singer and songwriter. He began his musical career in Saltillo, Coahuila, writing songs and playing the bajo sexto. In 1957, he formed the duet Dueto Carta Blanca with Juan Peña, which later evolved into Los Relámpagos del Norte with Ramón Ayala in 1963. Their first album produced their breakthrough hit "Ya No Llores". Cornelio Reyna's distinctive vocal style and Ayala's accordion skills marked a new era in Norteño music. In 1971, he moved to Mexico City, recording an LP with mariachi and venturing into acting, appearing in around 30 films. He released over 60 albums, including El Bohemio De La Cancion Ranchera (1971) and Cornelio Reyna (1972). Notable songs include "Mil Noches" and "Tu Traición". His last tour was in 1996. Cornelio Reyna died on January 23, 1997, in Mexico City due to complications from a stomach ulcer. Posthumously, his music continued to influence Norteño artists, with Ramón Ayala including "Ya No Llores" in his later CD.
