Cordelia's Dad, a band from Northampton, Massachusetts, was founded in 1987 by Tim Eriksen, Peter Irvine, and Tom King. The band gained attention for blending folk and punk rock, contributing to the "No Depression" genre. Their debut album, Cordelia's Dad, was recorded in 1990 at Bostonâs Fort Apache Studios. The band's second album, How Can I Sleep?, released in 1992, included more acoustic folk songs. In 1993, they released the mini-album Joy Fun Garden. King left the band after this release and was replaced by Cath Oss, with Eriksen switching to guitar. The album Comet (1995) featured only acoustic recordings. The band's album Spine was released in 1998 and received critical acclaim. In 2002, they released What It Is, featuring previously unreleased rock material.
