Colmillo Norteño is a Regional Mexican group from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, originally formed in 1996 and later reshaped in 2006, when Edén Muñoz joined as a key singer, accordionist, and songwriter during the bandâs best-documented recording period. That lineup helped define the groupâs norteño-banda sound and led to the albums El Cid in 2008, 2009 in 2009, and Sueño Guajiro later that same year. Songs such as "Hotel El Cid" and "Sueño Guajiro" became the most popular entries in their catalog, with Sueño Guajiro standing as the clearest centerpiece of its discography. In early 2010, Muñoz left after internal disagreements and launched a separate project that first appeared as Puro Colmillo Norteño before being renamed Calibre 50 after a legal dispute over the name. That split made Colmillo Norteño an important part of the prehistory of Calibre 50 as well as a notable act in late-2000s norteño-banda.
