Cantus Cölln was a German vocal ensemble led by Konrad Junghänel that focused on German and Italian music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Based in Cologne, the group was active from 1987 until they ceased activities in the summer of 2022. Their repertoire ranged from Orlando di Lasso to late Baroque composers, with recordings often focusing on lesser-known works such as cantatas by Nicolaus Bruhns or festive music by Giovanni Rovetta. They released 36 albums, which appeared initially on the Deutsche Harmonia Mundi label and subsequently on Harmonia Mundi starting in 1996. The ensemble embarked on concert tours across Europe, America, Asia, Africa, and Australia, and was awarded the Buxtehude-Preis in 2000. Their final performance took place at the Felix! festival in Cologne on August 18, 2022, featuring the complete motets of Johann Sebastian Bach.
