Biography
One of the most successful artists to ever emerge from Australiaâs country scene, award-winning musician Colin Buchanan was born in Dublin in 1964 but relocated to Melbourne with his family at the age of 6. In 1988, he moved to the Australian outback with his wife and performed a series of rural jobs before being discovered by country and bluegrass band The Flying Emus. After signing with ABC Country, a division of EMI Records, he made his debut with the album Galahs in the Gidgee (1991), for which he received great critical acclaim. Colin Buchanan continued to document the struggles of rural dwellers in Australia in Hard Times (1992) and The Measure of a Man (1994), followed by the massively popular Christmas albums Aussie Christmas with Bucko & Champs (1995), which spawned the Christmas classic âAussie Jingle Bells,â and a sequel titled Aussie Christmas with Bucko & Champs II (1998), both featuring fellow singer Greg Champion. In parallel with his mainstream career, he has also released multiple religious albums for children and penned songs for the likes of Lee Kernaghan, Adam Brand, and Troy Cassar-Daley. In 2017, he released his twelfth album, Calvary Road.
