Coilbox, a Spanish heavy metal band originating from Madrid, was formed in January 2000. The group initially began as Selfish Gen, with members Joseba, Sergio Hernández, José Hurtado, and Roberto Galán. After adding Hev Arriols, Daniel Sanz, Toni Hurtado, and César Herráiz, the name changed to Coilbox. Their first performance was in July 2000, opening for Skunk D.F., followed by a second concert at Sala Silicone. In December 2000, they recorded their debut demo with Luis Tárraga of Hamlet producing. The demo I Miss You was released in January 2001 and presented at Sala Ritmo y Compás. Coilbox signed with Zero Records in 2002, releasing their first album Coilbox 13. In 2004, they released The Havoc, which showcased a djent and metalcore sound after several lineup changes. The band disbanded in 2006 but reunited in 2011, releasing "The Beauty of Imperfection" in 2013.
