Biography

Coalesce, an American metalcore band from Kansas City, Missouri, was formed in 1994 by guitarist Jes Steineger, bassist Stacy Hilt, drummer Jim Redd, and vocalist Sean Ingram. Their EP release, 002, was recorded and released in 1995 for Earache Records' New Chapter imprint. The band's aggressive style gained them attention quickly. Their debut full-length album, Give Them Rope, was released in 1997 on Edison Recordings. In 1998, they released Functioning on Impatience and a Led Zeppelin covers EP titled There Is Nothing New Under The Sun (1999). Coalesce disbanded multiple times due to internal conflicts but continued to release notable albums such as 0:12 Revolution in Just Listening (1999) and Ox (2009). The band broke up in 2010 and has performed several reunion shows since then.
