Close Lobsters, a Scottish indie pop rock band formed in 1985, gained initial prominence with their track "Firestation Towers" (1986) on the NME's C86 compilation. They signed to Fire Records and released their debut single "Going to Heaven to See If It Rains" in 1986, followed by "Never Seen Before" in 1987. Their first album, Foxheads Stalk This Land, was released in 1987 and received critical acclaim from Rolling Stone. The band's popularity on U.S. college radio led to an invitation to the New York Music Seminar in 1989 and subsequent extensive tours across the UK, Germany, United States, and Canada. Close Lobsters released their second album, Headache Rhetoric, in 1989. After taking an extended break, they reformed in March 2012 to play various festivals. In 2020, Close Lobsters released their third album, Post Neo Anti: Arte Povera in the Forest of Symbols.
