Biography

Clivillés & Cole, comprising Robert Clivillés and David Cole, were American record producers, songwriters, and remixers active from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s. Born on July 30, 1964, in New York City, Robert Clivillés started as a DJ while David Cole was a keyboardist at Better Days club. Their first official collaboration was a 1986 remix of "It's Too Late (For Love)" by Stardom Groove featuring Tonya Wynne. In the late 1980s, they were part of groups like 2 Puerto Ricans, a Blackman, and a Dominican and the 28th Street Crew, contributing to the formation of pop group Seduction. Their breakthrough came with C+C Music Factory in 1991, who became a worldwide sensation. The duo produced hits for Mariah Carey, including "Emotions" and "Make It Happen", and remixed tracks by Natalie Cole, Taylor Dayne, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, among others. In 1992, they released the album A Deeper Love, featuring the hit single of the same name. David Cole passed away in 1995. Post-split, Robert Clivillés continued producing under various names, including Robi Rob's Club World.
