Biography
Claire is an electropop group formed in Munich, Germany, in 2012 by vocalist JosieâClaireâ¯Bürkle, keyboardists Matthiasâ¯Hauck and Nepomukâ¯Heller, guitarist Florianâ¯Kiermaier, and drummer Fridolinâ¯Achten. The band emerged from a film project in which JosieâClaireâ¯Bürkle was recruited after her appearance on The Voice of Germany; the collaboration of the five musicians led to the creation of the group. Their first release, the EP Games, entered the German charts in the summer of 2013 and secured a contract with Capitol Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. In September 2013 the group issued its debut studio album The Great Escape, which debuted at number 38 on the German album charts. The single "Games" followed in November 2013, and the band continued to release singles such as "Overdrive", also in 2013 and Tides in 2017. Claireâs releases were distributed by Island and Astralwerks, and the band maintained an active presence in the German electropop scene through touring and media appearances.
