Christoph Spendel, born on July 19, 1955, in Bytom, Poland, is a German jazz pianist, composer, and journalist. He began piano lessons at age five, continuing his studies at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and later at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf. In the mid-1970s, Spendel started his professional career as a member of the group Jazztrack. He collaborated with notable musicians such as Michael Sagmeister and Albert Mangelsdorff. In 1992, he moved to the USA and toured extensively with the smooth jazz group Special EFX. Spendel's discography includes albums like Limousine (1980), Dreams and Melodies (1982), and The Art of Solo Piano (1997). He has also worked on various film and television scores, as well as electronic chillout music projects such as Planet Lounge.
