Biography

Christian McBride Big Band, a 17‑piece ensemble led by bassist Christian McBride, formed in the United States. The group’s breakthrough came with the release of The Good Feeling (2011), earning a Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album in 2012. Subsequent albums Bringin’ It (2017) and For Jimmy, Wes and Oliver (2020) continued the band’s trajectory, each receiving critical acclaim and further Grammys. The ensemble performed at major festivals such as the Playboy Jazz Festival and the James Moody Festival, collaborating with Nicholas Payton and Steve Wilson. In 2026, the band won his fourth Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for Without Further Ado, Vol. 1, featuring Sting and Andy Summers, Jeffrey Osborne, Samara Joy, José James, Cécile McLorin Salvant, and Dianne Reeves.
