Christian Lorenz, known as "Flake", was born on November 16, 1966 in East Berlin. He is the keyboardist for the German band Rammstein and shapes their sound with a mixture of industrial metal, rock and electronic elements. He developed an interest in music in his youth and initially played in various rhythm and blues bands. In 1983, he joined the GDR punk band Feeling B before founding Rammstein in 1994 together with his current bandmates Till Lindemann, Richard Z. Kruspe, Paul H. Landers, Oliver Riedel and Christoph Schneider. With Rammstein, Flake released iconic albums such as Sehnsucht (1997) and Mutter (2001), which enjoyed international success. The best-known singles include "Du hast" (1997) and "Sonne" (2001), which achieved high chart positions worldwide. The most recent album Zeit (2022) and the single of the same name consolidate the band's status as one of the most important in their genre. Away from the music, Flake is known for his quirky stage presence and his role as entertainer within the band. He often provides humorous and provocative moments at concerts, such as during the performance of "Bück dich", which led to his arrest in the USA in 1999. At the end of November 2024, Christian "Flake" Lorenz released his solo debut Flake feiert Weihnachten, a Christmas album with musical guests. The album climbed to number 5 in Germany, followed just one year later by a Christmas reissue entitled Flake feiert Weihnachten wieder. The album reaches number 35 in the German charts.
