Christell JazmÃn RodrÃguez Carrillo, known mononymously as Christell, was born on January 2, 1998, in Talcahuano, Chile. She is a singer and musician who began her career at the age of five when she participated in the Chilean talent show Rojo, Fama Contrafama, imitating MarÃa José Quintanilla. Christell's early exposure to music came from her parents, Christian RodrÃguez and Miriam Carrillo, both members of the Christian group Ministerio Musical Piedra Viva.
Christell's breakthrough moment occurred on July 5, 2003, when she won a gala in Rojo, Fama Contrafama singing "México lindo y querido". This performance led to her first album, Christell, released on November 27, 2003. The album sold over eight thousand copies in one day and quickly achieved multiple platinum certifications. Her second album, La Fiesta Continua!!!, was launched on May 20, 2004, followed by ¡Ponte Las Pilas! on December 15, 2004. These albums included notable songs like "Mueve el Ombligo", which became a hit and was featured in the Teletón 2004. In 2005, Christell embarked on international tours through Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Latin American communities in the United States. She received a gold certification for her album sales in Mexico and was considered for a telenovela by Televisa. In 2023, "Dubidubidu" went viral in the U.S. and Japan due to its association with a popular cat meme, revitalizing Christell's career.
