Born in the U.S., pianist Chris McCarthy gained early recognition with the 2012 Gerald Wilson Award at the Monterey Jazz Festival. After years in Boston performing with Jerry Bergonzi and Jason Palmer, he moved to New York City in 2016. Known for his sensitive accompaniment and inventive voice, he released his debut Still Time To Quit in 2020 on Ropeadope Records. He later toured with Roopa Mahadevan and Samir Langus, and played on albums by Sasha Berliner and Eden Bareket. His piano trio album Priorities came out in 2022. In 2024, his duo album Lifeâs a Gig with Vanisha Gould earned critical acclaim.
