Operatic pop singer, songwriter, and actor Chris Mann â born in Wichita, Kansas on May 5, 1982 â is best-known as a popular contestant on the second season of televised talent show The Voice in 2012. His musical journey began after graduating with a degree in vocal performance from Vanderbilt Universityâs Blair School of Music in 2004. After graduation, he went to Europe when he was cast in an Italian opera. After returning to the US, he relocated to Los Angeles, California and began booking vocal recording sessions for several TV series and movies including Glee, Avatar, Tangled, The Smurfs, Sex and the City 2, and more. Chris Mann released his first digital release, EP, in 2009 and followed that with a self-titled digital EP in 2011. He also recorded or toured with high profile singers such as Heather Headley, India.Arie, Katharine McPhee, and Idina Menzel. Chris Mann then participated in the second season of The Voice in 2012, but ultimately placed fourth. He released a Christmas EP â Home for Christmas - on October 9, 2012, and followed that with his debut album, Roads, three weeks later. The album featured a mix of classical performances mixed with recordings of modern pop songs including a cover of Coldplayâs âViva La Vidaâ. Roads rose to Number 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and Number 5 on the Classical chart. He recorded several PBS specials and toured to support his debut California. In 2015, he began a two-year stint playing the title role in The Phantom of the Opera and toured the US. During his stint as The Phantom, he released his second album Constellation (2016), which hit Number 3 on the Classical Albums chart. During the worldwide pandemic, Chris Mann recorded several COVID-19 parodies that went viral on social media.
