Chocolove from AKB48 was a Japanese Jâpop girl group formed in 2007 as a subâunit of the popular idol ensemble AKB48. The unit consisted of Sayaka Akimoto, Sae Miyazawa, and Rina Nakanishi, all members of AKB48âs Team K and Team A at the time. Their debut single, "Ashita wa Ashita no Kimi ga Umareru", was released on 6â¯Juneâ¯2007 and served as the ending theme for the anime The Skull Man. The following month, on 29â¯Augustâ¯2007, they issued the single "Mail no Namida", further solidifying their presence in the Jâpop market. The groupâs sole studio album, Dessert, was issued on 21â¯Novemberâ¯2007 under Universal Music Japan. Despite the commercial releases, the unit was shortâlived; it disbanded later in 2007 after Rina Nakanishi departed from AKB48. The groupâs brief activity contributed to the expansion of the AKB48 franchiseâs subâunit model, and their releases remain catalogued in the groupâs discography as examples of early 2000s idol pop production.
