Chiens de paille was a French hip hop duo from Cannes, formed in 1992 by rapper Rodolphe Gagetta, known as Sako, and producer Sébastien Alfonsi, known as Hal. The duo initially focused on graffiti art before transitioning to music. Their breakthrough occurred in 1998 with the single âMaudits soient les yeux fermésâ, which was featured on the soundtrack of the film Taxi. This exposure led to their signing with the label 361 Records, owned by Akhenaton of the group IAM. The duo released the debut album, Mille et un fantômes, in October 2001, which included collaborations with Akhenaton and other artists from the label. Their second and final studio album, Sincèrement, was released in 2004. The group also produced two street albums, Tribute (2005) and Tribute II (2008), featuring collaborations with various prominent French rappers, before disbanding in 2010.
