Chateau Neuf Spelemannslag, also known as Chateau Neuf, is a Norwegian folk music group formed in 1994 at the University of Oslo. The band initially consisted of 19 instrumental players and vocalists who combined traditional Norwegian folk tunes with modern genres such as jazz, swing, classical, and rock. Their debut release was the single "Gubben Garberg" in 1995, followed by their first album Spell in the same year. In 1996, they released Gamle Guro, and in 1997, they put out Tjuvgods, which was also released under the title Stolen Goods for the North American audience. The band's unique blend of traditional and modern music styles gained them significant attention in the folk scene. In 2001, Chateau Neuf Spelemannslag released their fourth album Curing Norwegian Stiffness.
