Chara+YUKI is a Japanese vocal unit formed in 1999 by YUKI, former vocalist of JUDY AND MARY and NiNa, and singerâsongwriter CHARA, who had returned from maternity leave with "Tsuki to Amai Namida". The duo first met in 1993 during a musicâprogram backstage and collaborated on the 1998 girlâband Mean Machine. Their breakthrough came with the release of the first single "Ai no Hi 3tsu Orange" on 26 November 1999, which entered the Oricon charts at position 28. In 2019, exactly twenty years after the debut, they released the single "Tanoshii Kenobi" on 26 November, followed by their debut studio album echo on 14 February 2020, which peaked at number 7 on Oricon. The group planned a live tour in 2020, but the COVIDâ19 pandemic forced all concerts to be canceled; the tour was rescheduled for 5â6 May 2026 at the Tokyo Garden Theater. On 11 February 2026, they released the single "Senaka ni Ribbon", marking their first new material in six years. Their catalog includes collaborations with producers such as TENDRE and whiteroot, and their releases have consistently charted within the top 30 on Oricon.
