Biography
Caveman Shoestore was an avant-prog group formed in 1991 in Portland, Oregon by bassist Fred Chalenor, percussionist Henry Franzoni, and keyboardist/vocalist Elaine di Falco. The trio recorded their first release, a ten-track cassette titled Rock, in 1991. Their debut studio album, Master Cylinder, was released by Tim/Kerr Records in 1992, followed by their second full-length album, Flux, in 1994 and featured Amy DeVargas on vocals. In 1995, they collaborated with Hugh Hopper for the release of Caveman Hughscore. After a ten-year hiatus, Caveman Shoestore reunited to release Super Sale in 2005. Their final album, Frankensongs, was recorded in 2006 and released in 2020. Fred Chalenor passed away on June 23, 2018, due to early-onset Alzheimer's disease. In 2023, he was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.
