Biography
Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer are an American musical duo, activists, educators, and married couple. Cathy Fink began her career in Canada during the early 1970s performing folk music in coffeehouses. She released her recording debut with Duck Donald in 1975. Marcy Marxer grew up in Swartz Creek, Michigan, learning guitar, mandolin, hammered dulcimer and button accordion while still in high school. The duo met at the Mariposa Folk Festival in Toronto, Canada, in 1980 and began performing together by 1983. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1989. Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer have performed with notable artists such as Pete Seeger, Theodore Bikel, Tom Paxton, Patsy Montana, and Riders in the Sky. They have earned Grammy Awards for their recordings cELLAbration: a Tribute to Ella Jenkins (2003) and Bon Appétit!: Musical Food Fun (2004).
