Biography

Carrie Elkin, born October 11, 1974, in Cleveland, Ohio, is an American folk singer. She began playing saxophone and singing at church before pursuing music full-time. Her first album, Simplicity, was self-released in 1996. Elkin independently released The Waltz (2004) and The Jeopardy of Circumstance (2007). She signed with Red House Records in 2010, releasing Call It My Garden, which included the song "Jesse Likes Birds" that reached Number 1 on the FOLKDJ-L radio playlists in January 2011. Elkin was named one of Texas Music Magazine's "Artists of the Year" in their Winter 2012 issue. She performed at the South Padre International Music Festival in 2007. Her later albums include For Keeps (2014) and The Penny Collector (2017).
