Carole Ann Pope, born on August 6, 1950 in Manchester, England, is a Canadian singer. She emigrated to Montreal at age five and later moved to Scarborough, Ontario. She met her longtine musical partner Kevan Staples at a band audition in Scarborough and began performing together as a duo in Toronto's Yorkville district in 1968. They formed Rough Trade in 1976. The band released their first album Rough Trade Live in 1980. Pope won Juno Awards for Most Promising Female Vocalist in 1981 and Best Female Vocalist in 1982 and 1983. She released her debut solo single in 1988, a cover of The Flirtations' "Nothing but a Heartache". In 2005, she released her album Transcend.
