Capitol Years, an indie rock band from Philadelphia, was founded in 2000 by principal songwriter Shai Halperin. Their debut album, Meet Yr Acres, produced in Halperinâs studio apartment and released in July 2000, received positive reviews including a spot on Magnet magazine's "Top 10 Hidden Treasures" list for 2001. Following this release, Halperin recruited additional members, forming the core of Capitol Years. In 2003, they released the EP Jewelry Store and the acoustic album Pussyfootin'. The band gained significant attention, being named "Best of Philly" in 2003 and opening for notable acts like The Pixies. They continued to release albums including Let Them Drink (2005) and Dance Away the Terror (2006), which received critical acclaim from outlets like Pitchfork Media and Magnet magazine. Capitol Years toured extensively, performing in the U.S., UK, Spain, and Israel, and collaborated with artists such as Daniel Johnston and David Cross.
